Fashion Bitching (#27): Oscars 2016

It's that time of the year again... when the biggest Hollywood stars walk the red carpet and we get to bitch about their looks. But this year is special. Is the year that Leonardo Di Caprio won an Oscar and Kate Winslet was there to cheer! Awww...
Time to get back to business:

Alicia Vikander is wearing Louis Vuitton

Alicia Vikander has done some amazing appearances on the red carpet this award season and I was deeply disappointed with this "I want to be princess" look.
Score: 6/10

Brie Larson in Gucci
Gucci is the hottest designer house at the moment and every star wants to wear its clothes. Brie Larson turned out to be the lucky one but unfortunately with this belt and this styling she totally lost a big opportunity to make a fashion statement.
Score: 7/10

Cate Blanchett is wearing Armani Prive
If I saw this dress on anyone else I would propably hate it. But on Cate Blanchett everything works and looks fabulous.
Score: 9/10

Charlize Theron in Dior
Boobs was the hit of the night. Almost every star wore a gown with low, very low neckline. Charlize looks fabulous but why she had to wear this long necklace?
Score: 8/10

Charlotte Rampling in Armani Prive
When you are chic and graceful by nature, it doesn't matter what you wear. But this Armani dress really matches Charlotte Rampling's style. If only she could find better shoes and the look would be perfect.
Score: 8/10

Chrissy Teigen is wearing Marchesa
Chrissy Teigen seems to know how to be pregnant but still look sexy and classy. I love the styling!
Score: 8/10

Emily Blunt in Prada
On the other hand, Emily Blunt thinks when you are pregnant you need to dress like you're going to your cousin's wedding in a small village in the mountains.
Score: 4/10

Heidi Klum in Marchesa
Heidi Klum loves Halloween. She loves it so much that she wears Halloween costumes on the red carpet.
Score: 3/10

Jennifer Garner is wearing Atelier Versace
Sure, we've seen this style before but all this old Hollywood styling and how perfectly this dress fits her make me to actually love the overall look. Jennifer Garner is back to her old fashionable self.
Score: 8/10

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
I like the fact that she dared to do something different and chose a more sassy look but I expected to be wowed and I didn't. Sorry Jen.
Score: 8/10

Kerry Washington is wearing Atelier Versace
Kerry Washington always likes to take risks on the red carpet but this is not a risk. This is a bad sequel of Matrix.
Score: 4/10

Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell
I never thought I would say this, but I miss the days when Lady Gaga was wearing meat on red carpet or she was carried inside an egg. Those were the days... Now, it's just boring...
Score: 6/10

Margot Robbie in Tom Ford
Ok, metallics are a huge trend right now but this dress for some reason looks so outdated that even the effortless and cool styling can't save it.
 Score: 5/10

Naomi Watts is wearing Armani Prive
I have nothing bad to say about this dress but I have nothing good to say either.
Score: 6/10

Olivia Wilde in Valentino
See Olivia Wilde's boobs, check. Like this look with this necklace, no way.
Score: 4/10

Julianne Moore in Chanel
Can you go wrong wearing Chanel? No, but you need to change your earrings.
Score: 8/10

Saoirse Ronan is wearing Calvin Klein
I'm very into the emerald green trend that is going on the red carpet lately. I wasn't sure at the beginning, but the more I look at this dress the more I love it.
Score: 9/10

Rachel McAdams in August Getty Atelier
Sometimes you can wear the simpliest dress and be the best dressed in the room and I feel that Rachel McAdams rocked it! It's a simple dress but the chic but also modern styling, make the overall look one of my favorites of the night!
Score: 10/10

Reese Witherspoon in Oscar de la Renta
It doesn't get more boring than this...
Score: 4/10

Rooney Mara in Givenchy
Rooney Mara has a unique style and that's always good, but I believe she needs to step it up a little. I feel like I've seen this look on her a million times before.
Score: 7/10

Sofia Vergara in Marchesa
I told Sofia to get out of her classic mermaid dress but I didn't mean she should get into this disaster...
Score: 3/10

Tina Fey in Versace
The dress is lovely but the styling is so terrible that makes her look like my mum going to a New Year's Eve party. Yes, my mum would totally wear Versace if she had the budget.
Score: 6/10

Kate Winslet in Ralph Lauren
What a disappointment... But because she's Leo's buddy and because I know she can do better than this, I'll go easy on her. This time...
Score: 5/10

That's a wrap! The award season is over! Until next time!
Congrats Leo! We love you!

Fashion Finder: Saira Shoes

Yes, I'm obsessed with shoes. But then again, is there a girl who is not obsessesd with shoes? (maybe my friend Athina... seriously, why am I friends with this girl?)
So, when I got invited to an event in order to get introduced to a shoe brand, I was really excited!

Saira is an independent shoe brand based in the UK, which is using traditional production techniques with a modern eye. And they love creating flats! Finally, a brand that understands my pain! I love high heels but let's be honest, it's really hard to live in them. But it's even harder to find cool and beautiful flat shoes. But Saira Shoes are exactly that: cool and beautiful.

They're using unique and feminine prints and they create some fabulous pairs that are modern and classic at the same time.

I fell in love with the ones above... I start thinking about summer in the Greek islands... wearing light dresses...  I need to have them in my closet!!

What really caught my eye was these ones... No more boring, ordinary and unflattering sneakers to wear in the tube. I can finally wear a pair that I won't feel embarassed matching it with my workwear.

Happy shopping!

Liberty in Fashion exhibition

One my favorite things to do in London, is to visit the Fashion and Textile Museum (you can read about my previous visit here). There's always an interesting exhibition going on, where you have the chance to learn something new about fashion.

This time, the exhibition was about Liberty. In case you don't know, like my friend Athina even though she passes by it every day, Liberty is the most iconic department store in London. Opened in 1875, Liberty was not like the other stores. More elegant, more fashion forward and more innovative than its competitors, Liberty establish itself as the king of fabrics and prints.

As the business grew, Liberty's Art Fabrics departmnet blossomed as they started to produce their own prints and become one of the most succesful and influential "players" in the fashion industry.

The exhibition celebrates the company's 140th anniversary, having on display more than 150 garments and fabrics! So, take your time and enjoy an amazing journey through the history of fashion.

You get the chance to see how fashion evolved through the years and became such an important part of british culture.

And of course the collaborations! Liberty always had a very strong relationship with designers and collaborated with them in numerous occasions. So in the exhibition you get to see the work of Mary Quant, Jean Muir, Cacharel, Jimmy Choo and Vivienne Westowood (at the photo below).

Definitely worth to visit this exhibition but you need to hurry because it ends at the 28th of February.

Shea Moisture Hair Masque - Review

I discovered the Shea Moisture brand last year at a blogger's beauty event (you can read about it here) and I remember that I was so impressed by their amazing scents of their products. Many people say that it doesn't matter how a product smells, as long as it does the job.
Well, it matters to me. I love it when a beauty product has a fabulous scent. And the Shea Moisture products smell amazing. They use natural ingredients based on shea butter and their recipes are handed down from a healer make for potent 21st century cures.

As you might already know, my hair have so many issues that I don't know where to begin. They're greasy, have a mind of their own and most of the time they look dull. For the last month, I'm using this mask twice a week and I noticed a real difference.

My hair look smoother and more vibrant. Even the colour (I'm dying my hair of course), looks brighter! And the most important thing... my hair smell amazing after every use!
What more can I ask for?

How to style: The Denim Shirt

Denim is such a big trend at the moment, that allows us to use it and style it in many different ways.
Here are the 5 ways (+1 extra tip) to style the denim shirt:

1. Your new cardigan

Spring hopefully will arrive soon, so you'll have to put your heavy coat back in the closet and try something lighter to cover yourself. The denim shirt is an effortless alternative that will give your look a cool twist.

2. Many shades of denim

Years ago, it was a fashion "no,no" to try to match different shades of denim. But now, you have nothing to be afraid of. If you have big thighs, like me, choose the darker shade for your bottoms and the lighter one for the top.

3. Denim night out

Who says that denim is only suitable for casual wear?
Kim Kardashian, who is the queen of "sexy" wear, shows us how to match a denim shirt with a pencil skirt, a pair of high heels... and we're ready for a big night out!

4. The girly denim way

Kim might know sexy, but Olivia Palermo (my favorite style icon) knows how to make everything to look sophisticated and chic. You match your denim shirt with a girly and flowy skirt and you instantly have a great girly look. I usually match my denim shirt with my favorite yellow skirt (you can read about the skirt here) for a an amazing color combination.

5. Boho denim chic

It's been a long time since denim was associated with constructor workers. Now you can match your denim shirt with a casual skirt and sneakers and you'll have a fabulous boho look.

+1: Don't be afraid to accessorize!

The denim shirt is such a versitile piece of our wardrobe that we can accessorize it with almost everything. I usually like matching it with a big and shiny statement necklace for the ultimate contrast!

What's your favorite denim shirt style?

Fashion Bitching (#26): SAG Awards 2016

It's that time of the year again! Award season! And even though life gets in the way and doesn't allow me to bitch as much as I would want to... I finally got the time to get up close and personal with SAG's red carpet. So, shall I start?

Christina Ricci is wearing Christophe Kane
An interesting British invasion on the red carpet! I really like the dress and the styling, but Christina's hair and complexion doesn't match well with the dress.
Score: 7/10

Eva Langoria in Julien Macdonald
Another British invasion which makes Eva look sexy and amazing, but I think the cut of the dress makes her look even more short than she already is.
Score: 7/10

Claire Danes is wearing Stella MacCartney
The color is amazing and she looks fabulous in it, but I feel like I've seen Claire Danes in the same type of dress before. Maybe take a risk next time?
Score: 8/10

Brie Larson in Atelier Versace
I feel like something is wrong with this dress. I love the styling and Brie looks amazing, but I feel that the cuts are in all the wrong places...
Score: 7/10

Naomi Watts is wearing Burberry
Great blue color? Check!
Great and flattering cut? Check!
Great floral texture? Check!
Great overall styling? Check!
Score: 10/10

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab
When I grow up and become a princess, this is the dress I want to wear.
Score: 10/10

Viola Davis is wearing Zac Posen

I really like this dress and Viola's hair are amazing, but my dear don't forget the steamer next time, ok?
Score: 9/10

Giuliana Rancic in Gauri and Nainika
It's refreshing when celebrities are trying new designers on the red carpet. This dress flatters her figure and gives a girly tone to her look that matches perfectly with her new short hair.
Score: 9/10

Julianne Moore in Givenchy
It takes a lot of effort to take a beautiful woman like Julianne Moore and make her look fat and boring.
Score: 4/10

Emilia Clarke is wearing Dior

For a pink girl like me, I could never say anything bad about this color. And the overall look is nice but it seems like it wasn't made for Emilia's height. Were seamtresses on strike last week?
Score: 8/10

Nicole Kidman in Gucci
Another Hollywood star that doesn't own a big mirror in her house. Seriously Nicole?
Score: 3/10

Helen Mirren in Jenny Packham
Helen Mirren doesn't look amazing for her age. She looks amazing for any age! All you young Hollywwod starlets out there, watch and learn!
Score: 10/10

Kate Winslet is wearing Giorgio Armani
I've seen this look on Kate Winslet before but I love the color of the dress so much, that I would let it go. For now...
Score: 8/10

Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Monique Lhuillier
This dress is so wrong in so many ways that I don't know where to start. The dress looks outdated, it doesn't flatter her body and the whole look is inspired from Dynasty when Krystal and Alexis were fighting in the mud (good old days).
Score: 3/10

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton
This is what I call "fashion forward"! If I had seen this dress on a hanger I would propably would scream "no no no", but it works on Alicia. Well done!
Score: 9/10

Kristen Wiig is wearing Roland Muret
I'm in love with this look: different, fashionable and amazing!
Score: 10/10

Kaley Coco in Romona Keveza
Sometimes in life you have to make difficult desicions. If you're going to wear a dress with big cut outs then go all the way, don't cover it in the middle with a transparent fabric. It looks like solarium gone wrong. I love the styling though!
Score: 7/10

Maisie Williams in Ermanno Scervino
The dress is amazing and age appropriate, but the styling makes her look like 20 years older! And no one wants to look older, unless you're 10.
Score: 6/10

Christina Hendricks is wearing Christian Siriano

My grandmother was looking for the curtains of her living room which mysteriously disappeared. Dear Christian Siriano please bring back my grandmother's curtains. Thank you.
Score: 2/10

Demi Moore in vintage Zac Posen
Move over, here comes Demi Moore with her perfect red carpet look. Wow.
Score: 10/10

That's all the bitching I have for today. More, coming soon... Let me know in the comments your favorite looks and which ones you hate the most!
